CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- During the holidays we want to recognize those in the community doing great work.
And we are doing just that each week with our Wicked Awesome Kid of the Week.
News 3's Jason Hurst joins us in studio with more.
I thought we would stick with the holiday theme for this week's Wicked Awesome Kid.
Everyone could use some christmas cheer or a homemade holiday card.
Meet Jackson McDermott. His NCOE 4th grade class made cards and envelopes out of paper origami.
Jackson's mom works at a nursing home so he asked if his class could make cards for the residents at Ridgeway Nursing home.
The school adminstration gave it a thumbs up.
Jackson knows that resident's family members can't visit their loved ones and he wanted to spread the holiday cheer.
The only memories I have of my grandmother, my mom's mom are in a nursing home.
Great gesture young man. You are certainly a Wicked Awesome Kid in my book.
