(CNN) -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is urging pregnant women to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The urgent recommendation comes after the CDC reported the highest number of pregnant women to die in a month. 22 pregnant women died from the infection in August.Â
Vaccination rates are low among pregnant women, at only 31 percent.Â
The CDC says COVID can cause babies to be born sick, early or to be still born.Â
The agency says vaccination before or during pregnancy strongly outweighs the risk.Â
