New COVID-19 cases reported in southern Illinois

(WSIL) -- New cases of COVID-19 were reported in several southern Illinois counties on Monday.

Southern Seven Health Department recorded 25 new cases of COVID-19 in its region from Saturday through Monday. The majority, 22 cases, were reported in Union County.

On Monday, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced 1,298 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, including 10 additional confirmed deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 183,241 cases, including 7,526 deaths, in Illinois.

FRANKLIN COUNTY

  • Female: One child, one teenager, one in their 20s, one in their 40s and one in their 60s
  • Male: One in their 30s, One in their 50s, one in their 60s and one in their 70s

Nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Franklin County Monday. To date, there have been 140 confirmed cases in the county. Of the positive cases, health officials say 59 have recovered.

HAMILTON COUNTY

  • Male: One in his 20s and one in his 60s

There have been 26 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including one related death, in Hamilton County. Health officials say 12 people have recovered; 13 others are currently isolating at home.

HARDIN COUNTY

  • One male in his 50s

Hardin County has had 16 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Seven of the cases are currently active.

JACKSON COUNTY

  • Female: One teen
  • Male: Two in their 20s, one in his 30s, one in his 40s and one in his 50s

To date, there have been 652 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 19 related deaths, in Jackson County. County health officials say 497 individuals have been released from isolation. Currently, 136 active cases are being managed.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

  • Female: One under the age of 10, two in their 20s, one in her 60s and one in her 90s
  • Male: Two in their 30s and one in his 70s

Since its previous update on Friday, Jefferson County Health Department had eight new cases of COVID-19. To date, there have been 206 confirmed cases, including 14 deaths, in the county. Of the positive cases, 37 are currently active and in isolation.

MASSAC COUNTY

  • One male in his 20s

There have been 34 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massac County. Fifteen cases are currently active.

PULASKI COUNTY

  • One female in her 50s

Pulaski County has had 93 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Health officials say 35 cases are currently active.

RANDOLPH COUNTY

  • Six new cases for Sunday, Aug. 2 and four new cases for Monday, Aug. 3

Randolph County has had 443 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including seven related deaths. Local health officials say 34 individuals are currently recovering at home; 402 others have been released to resume normal activity.

SALINE COUNTY

  • Female: One in her 50s
  • Male: Two in their 60s

To date, there have been 114 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including one related death, in Saline County.

UNION COUNTY

  • Female: Two in their 10s, four in their 20s, one in her 30s, one in her 40s and three in their 60s
  • Male: One in the 10s, two in their 20s, three in their 30s, one in his 40s, three in their 50s and one in his 60s

In addition to 22 new cases, Union County also reported an additional death as a result of COVID-19. Southern Seven Health Department says a woman in her 70s passed away.

Union County has now had 288 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 19 related deaths. Ninety cases are currently active. The health department says 179 others have recovered.

WAYNE COUNTY

  • Female: One in her 70s
  • Male: One child, Two in their 30s and one in his 50s

There have been 50 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including one death, in Wayne County. The health department says one person is currently hospitalized, and 21 others are isolating at home. Twenty-seven people ahve recovered.

WHITE COUNTY

  • Female: Two in their 20s, one in her 30s and one in her 50s

According to Egyptian Health Department, there have been 62 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in White County.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY

  • Female: Three teenagers, one in their 20s, one in their 30s, and one in their 50s
  • Male: One teenager, two in their 30s, one in their 40s, two in their 50s and two in their 60s

Fourteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Williamson County Monday. There have been 356 confirmed cases, including five deaths, in the county. Of the positive cases, health officials say 175 have recovered.
