Parson to make announcement on Missouri’s stay-at-home order

O'FALLON, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri Gov. Mike Parson is set to announce whether he's extending his statewide stay-at-home order to help contain the spread of the coronavirus, but Missouri's largest city isn't waiting.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas announced Thursday that the city's stay-at-home mandate will remain effective until May 15.

It requires residents to stay home except for essential activities such as buying groceries or seeking medical care.

St. Louis County Executive Sam Page says regional leaders are in discussions and he expects the St. Louis-area order to be extended into May.

Parson said on his that he'll make an announcement Thursday about his statewide order.
