Pritzker to provide COVID-19 update as hospitalizations, cases surge

CHICAGO (WREX) â€� Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is set to provide another update on COVID-19 Wednesday.Ìý

The governor will be speaking at 1:30 from Chicago. You can watch the update live on the .Ìý

The update comes as the state continues to see a rise in hospitalizations and cases. The state reported 28,110 new cases of the virus on Tuesday.Ìý

As of Monday night, there were 7,353 people in the hospital with COVID-19 across the state. 1,152 people were in ICU beds and 664 were on ventilators.Ìý

Region 5, which includes most of southern Illinois, had 2 ICU beds available as of Tuesday, according to IDPH data.
