CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (WSIL) -- St. Francis Healthcare hosted the second of its four vaccine clinics Tuesday afternoon.

It held one on Monday where it doled out more than 200 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, according to director of pharmacy Sarah Mirgaux. On Tuesday, it expects to give out more than 250 doses of the vaccine.

Since December, Mirgaux says the healthcare system has given out more than 19,000 COVID-19 vaccines. By the end of the week, it's expected to dole out 2,340 more doses and eclipse the 20,000 mark.

"It's a team effort to put on a vaccine clinic all the way from the registration and the scheduling team," Mirgaux said. "Some of our retired physicians.... have come on board and have helped us in the vaccination process."

The vaccination clinics this week are for residents who fall under Missouri's Phase 1B Tier 3 criteria. Those include first responders, teachers, grocery store workers and more.

St. Francis is holding another clinic Thursday in Poplar Bluff. It begins at 9 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. at the Black River Ambulatory Surgery Center. The next clinic at St. Francis is Friday from 2p.m. to 6 p.m.
