WILLIAMSON COUNTY (WSIL) -- COVID-19 has impacted nearly every aspect of our lives, even crime rates.
Some types of crime have decreased, while others have increased. Williamson County Detective Lieutenant Karl Gusentine, says the pandemic has affected a lot of their crime trends compared to 2019.
Gusentine says some crimes have decreased like criminal damage, which has gone down 14%. But there's been an uptick in burglaries, reporting a 73% increase.
Due to more people working and shopping online, they've seen an almost
90% increase in identity thefts.
Gusentine says the most concerning trend is domestic assaults, which have gone up about 13%.
"People being quarantined at home, maybe not working, more stressed due to a lot more online, homeschooled-type-fact adds to the family setting and how tough it is during this to get along," he said.
He also says vehicle thefts are still an issue right now and advises everyone to check and lock their cars up at night.
