MARION (WSIL) -- News 3 WSIL is proud to join with the Southern Illinois Community Foundation to help local non-profits.
The Salvation Army of Southern Illinois assists hundreds of people in need each year.
"We're just the conduit from people who have the ability to help, getting it to the people who really need the help. We just, whatever comes in goes right back out to help Southern Illinois," says Cami Horn, Social Services Manager.
Horn says the offer wide variety of assistance. From food and clothing to financial help.
"We can't provide a huge amount of help but a lot of times it's enough help at least to get them to the point where that next paycheck is going to come or some additional help is going to come. To keep their water on. To keep their utilities running. To help them stay in their apartment or their home," explains Horn
Horn says they're looking at a 155 percent increase in need this year and every donations counts. "There's been several different types of fundrasing events that were on the calendar of course, that COVID scrubbed. Any additional out of the box thinking or fundraising going into this holiday season is really vital for us."
