Franklin County EDGE students promote Fright Night Flicks

Students with the Franklin County EDGE program want to invite everyone out to their end of the semester final, a fundraiser called Fright Night Flicks. The event is happening Saturday and Sunday, November 2nd and 3rd.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill., (WSIL) -- Students enrolled in the Franklin County EDGE program are getting ready for their final project, but it is not anything like the final you would find in a typical high school classroom. The thirteen seniors, from five school districts across the county, have spent their semester learning how to build their own business and become entrepreneurs. The culmination of that hard work comes in the form of a fundraiser, their final project, to help fund the businesses they've spent the semester building.

The students chose a drive-in theme for their final project called Fright Night Flicks. The event will run for two days, on Saturday and Sunday, November 2nd and 3rd. Your movie-watching venue will be the VF Mall in West Frankfort, Illinois, utilizing the large parking area for movie-goers and the carnival style events slated for Sunday.

Saturday's showing starts at 7 p.m. with Hocus Pocus, followed by Scream, starting at 9 p.m. The students say there will be plenty to do on Saturday evening, including grabbing a bite at one of the food trucks, getting in on the 50/50 raffle or putting your name in on one of the baskets to be raffled.

Sunday's showings are closer to matinee movie times, with Halloweentown starting at 12:30 p.m., and Ghostbusters beginning at 2:30 p.m. Sunday's flicks also come with plenty of festivities, with more of a picnic or carnival theme. The family friendly activities include a cornhole tournament, face painting, inflatables and food trucks.

Tickets are $10 per day, with additional costs associated with the voluntary activities. You can find more information and a QR code at the Franklin County EDGE Facebook page.
