The city of West Frankfort and Franklin County are hosting a large public auction.

WEST FRANKFORT, IL (WSIL) - The city of West Frankfort and Franklin County are hosting a large public auction. It's been 23 years since they've had an auction this big.

West Frankfort's Mayor, Tim Arview, says the money made will go to the city's general fund.

"We just decided it might be a good idea to just do it all at once," Arview says.

There will be cars, exercise equipment, and the auctioneer G. David Green says there's even a fire truck.

"We have all of the courthouse benches out of the old, the old Franklin County courthouse will be here for sale," Green.

Green shares he has been doing Actions for 40 years, and this will be the second time in 20 years he's done a large auction with West Frankfort.

"And I'm of course city minded, uh, person and I, I just like helping out the city and the county."

Arview shared most of the stuff being auctioned off, they already replaced, except for the 16 properties up for grabs.

"We'll have sometimes, where a neighbor will buy the lot next to them to have a bigger yard and that's great too," Arview says. "But our hope is always that somebody's gonna be able to build on it and do something with it."

Green says he thinks people will be really interested in the dump trucks and the 1984 fire truck.

The Auction is this Saturday, November 4th. It starts at 10 at the West Frankfort Business Incubator.
