ELLSINORE, Ill. (WSIL) -- A 49-year-old was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash in southeast Missouri on Thursday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) said the crash happened at 5 p.m. on March 6, along Noble Street in Ellsinore.

State police said a 49-year-old from Ellsinore was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche when it crashed into a building, hit a mailbox, then a parked car, and then crashed into a tree.

The man was reported with serious injuries and flown to the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

MSHP said the driver did not have a seatbelt on. The Chevrolet Avalanche was reported as totaled.
