CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- A man is in custody after a home invasion in Jackson County.Â
On Tuesday, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Carbondale Police officers responded to West Sunset for damage to property.Â
Officers found the suspect, 24-year-old Andrew Walker of Carbondale, forced open the door of a home and was still inside. It was learned Walker has been armed with a handgun and battered the victim inside the home.
Walker was arrested and was in possession of a controlled substance and ammunition. A firearm was also recovered at the scene.Â
The victim, an acquaintance of Walker, received minor injuries that did not require hospitalizations.Â
Walker is now charged with Home Invasion with a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail.Â
