CARMI (WSIL)---The Christmas Lights of Hope are reopening to raise money for the family of Wayne County Deputy Sean Riley.

Riley was killed in the line of duty Wednesday while responding to a motorist assist call on I-64.

The Lights of Hope were initially closed down but are re-opening tonight to help the Riley family.

Organizers said they want to support the family during this difficult time.

"It's so close to home and it's a realization that it can happen to anyone. We've always grew up in this area thinking it could never happen, and it has happened. And we know some of the struggles the family is going to face in the next couple months, years. Them not having their father, it's just a little we could do, it's a little we could help out and this is the best way we could do it," said Lance Yearby, the President of the Carmi Christmas Elves.

The lights open at 5:30 at the White County Fairgrounds and all proceeds will go to the family.
