Hourly Forecast

WSIL(Carterville, Ill.) -- This morning, we are waking up under partly to mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures for most of us that are running in the upper 40s to lower 50s, with winds out of the southwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour.

For today, we are tracking temperatures that will be in the mid to upper 70s for highs, much like we saw yesterday. Morning clouds will give way to mostly sunny skies by midday. Winds will be out of the south-southwest this afternoon at 10 to 15 miles per hour. Due to the breezier conditions, warmer temperatures, and low relative humidity, there is an elevated fire risk for this afternoon, so use extreme caution when burning outdoors.

This evening, could cover will return to the area out ahead of our next disturbance. This will bring the chance of a couple of isolated showers and thunderstorms between midnight tonight through the mid morning hours tomorrow. These showers should stay concentrated south of state route 13, through western Kentucky. The chance for showers however, will remain isolated.

Morning lows tomorrow will be in the md 50s across most of the area thanks to plenty of cloud cover, with highs that will reach the low to mid 70s. The mid to upper 70s are expected for Friday out ahead of our next storm system. While we are still three day out, this storm system does have the potential to produce strong to severe storms, mainly in the late evening Friday into early Saturday morning, with all hazards possible. The entire region is already in a level 3 Enhanced risk of severe weather.
