WSIL — March is Caffeine Awareness Month, so we’re offering up three ways to save on coffee.
Make coffee at home and re-use your grounds. Add 50 percent new coffee grounds to your already used grounds. Experts say it’ll still taste fresh and stretch your beans. You can also use your grounds as a natural fertilizer for your garden or compost heap. Coffee is also good for keeps cats out of your garden. They don’t like the way it smells and the chemicals in coffee grounds will burn ants� legs, keeping those pests out of your garden as well.
Buy gift cards. This may sound hard to believe, but there are currently gift cards for places like Starbucks on eBay that are selling below the face value of the card. You can pick up a $25 gift card right now for about 21 bucks. Shop smart and keep an eye out for those bargains.
Flavored coffee creamers are popular, but they can also be expensive. So make your own. Chances are you already have the ingredients in your fridge and pantry. You’ll find a ton of recipes on your favorite search engine online.
