CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Police in Carbondale are investigating a recent armed robbery which resulted in one person facing charges.
The Carbondale Police Department said on January 15, at 12:35 a.m., an armed robbery happened in the 2300-block of South Illinois Avenue.
Officers later arrested Elijah Holmes, 19 of East St. Louis, in connection to the robbery investigation.
Police said Holmes initially gave them a false name and was found to have had an Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Violation Warrant.
Two firearms and ammunition were also recovered, one of which was reported stolen, police reported.
Holmes was charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Possession of Firearm Ammunition and Obstructing Justice.
Holmes then was taken to the Jackson County Jail. The investigation into the armed robbery is active and ongoing.
