PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) 鈥 Police in western Kentucky arrested a man after a multi-county pursuit which closed down a portion of an interstate on Wednesday evening.
Kentucky State Police (KSP), Post 1 said a Tennessee man was placed in handcuffs after a pursuit through Lyon, Livingston, Marshall and McCracken counties.
KSP said one of their own, Trooper Wesley Thompson, saw a white 2022 Dodge Durango going west on I-24, speeding at roughly 100 mph near the 42 mile marker at around 6:30 p.m. on September 11.
The trooper then turned on his lights to pull over the vehicle, but police say the driver of the Durango kept on going at a high speed.
Shortly later, law enforcement were able to deflate the tires which slowed down the pursuit, leading to the Durango stopping around the 17 mile marker of I-24, a KSP report detailed.
Police then said the driver of the Durango was not cooperative with authorities.
More area agencies then arrived to help out, including an armored vehicle with the McCracken County Sheriff鈥檚 Office.
I-24 was then shut down during this time in this area.
KSP said law enforcement on scene used the armored truck to help get the driver out and into custody.
The driver of the Durango was identified as Evin Rion, 29 of Lebanon, Tennessee, KSP stated.
Rion was then taken to a hospital to be medically evaluated and was charged with 1st Degree Fleeing or Evading Police, Wanton Endangerment, DUI 2nd Offense and other traffic citations.
Assisting KSP with the incident include the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, Marshall County Sheriff's Office, and Mercy EMS.
