69-Year-Old Arrested, One Critically Injured, After Police Respond to Stabbing Call in Marion

MARION, Ill. -- A 69-year-old mas was arrested and taken to jail after police were called to a stabbing report in Marion on Tuesday.

The Marion Police Department said they received a 911 call about a possible stabbing incident in the business parking lot in the 900-block of West Main Street on September 17, at around 5:45 p.m.

Officers on the scene found two males on the ground with one on top of the other and equipped with a knife, Marion police said.

Officers used their tasers on the suspect and were able to detain him. 

Police said the suspect was identified as 69-year-old Leroy Lambert.

Officers started life-saving procedures on the victim until he was taken to a nearby hospital. Police said the victim is in critical condition.

Lambert was then taken to the Williamson County Jail. According to booking details with the sheriff's office, Lambert faces an Aggravated Battery/Great Bodily Harm charge.
