FULTON, Ky. -- Kentucky State Police (KSP) are investigating a death of a 40-year-old inmate and have charged another inmate with drug crimes in regards to the matter.
KSP learned of the incident on Friday, July 12, just before 4 p.m. after they were notified by the Fulton County Detention Center about the death of a female inmate.
Authorities said the deceased was Charlina M. Easley, 40 of Dresden, Tennessee.
Easley was reportedly found unresponsive in her cell and then taken to a local medical center where she was pronounced dead.
KSP said their detectives found there was another female inmate, Brandy Reynolds, 42 of South Fulton, Tennessee, who hid fentanyl from authorities during intake at the jail.
Reynolds is suspected of providing several female inmates fentanyl, including Easley, authorities stated.Â
KSP said their detectives have charged Reynolds with six counts of promoting contraband. She remains at the Fulton County Jail.
Toxicology results are pending after an autopsy was performed on Easley.
The investigation is ongoing.
