Carbondale police investigate shooting, one person injured

CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- The police department needs the public's help finding a suspect in a shooting that injured one person.

According to the authorities, Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 300 block of South Cedarview Street in reference to reports of gunshots and a gunshot victim on September 3, 2021 at approximately 1:34 p.m.

Officers found a gunshot victim with non-life threatening injuries and treated the victim at the scene along with the Jackson County Ambulance Service.  The victim was then taken to and treated at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Authorities say the suspect may have fled the area in a grey SUV, and there's no additional information about the suspect to release at this time. The identity of victim is also currently being withheld.
