Former Youth Football President Faces Stealing Charge

JACKSON, Mo. -- A man faces a stealing charge after allegedly misusing funds with a youth football organization.

The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Office said they received some information from the Jackson Area Youth Football Foundation (JAYF) on April 15, 2024, about some funds which were reportedly misused from their account.

The JAYF operates community youth football for children, grades kindergarten through 6th grade.

Law enforcement started investigating the matter. The former JAYF president/treasurer Timothy Smith, was accused of being involved in this case.

The sheriff's office said Smith was charged by the Cape Girardeau Prosecuting Attorney Mark Welker, with a Class C Felony of Stealing. A bond was set at $10,000 cash only.
