HICKORY, Ky. (WSIL) -- A three-month old infant who was considered missing has been found in western Kentucky. The mother of the child was also arrested.
The Kentucky State Police (KSP) said on November 17, at 10:46 a.m., their dispatch at Post 1 in Hickory, received information from police in Cape Girardeau about an missing infant. The infant was three months old and was reported to be at a home in the Hickory area in Graves County.
KSP said the information they received was the infant was ordered to the custody of the Missouri Department of Social Services, however, the biological mother was believed to be with the child and left the state of Missouri.
About 17 minutes after receiving the information at 11:03 a.m., troopers with the Kentucky State Police then found the infant, along with the mother of the baby. Police said the infant was safe and law enforcement found them at a home in Hickory.
The mother was identified as Taylor Roldan, 29 of Cape Girardeau. KSP said Roldan was a fugitive and had a warrant issued for her arrest in Missouri for Parental Kidnapping.
Roldan was taken to the Calloway County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Missouri.
KSP said they worked with law enforcement in Missouri, the Missouri Department of Social Services and the Kentucky Department of Community Based Services to ensure the infant child was safe. KSP also thanked everyone who worked together in this case.
A Trooper Teddy Bear was also provided to the infant child. KSP explained the Trooper Teddy program which provides the toy stuffed bears which wear a KSP shirt and campaign hat to children involved in traumatic incidents. KSP said these Trooper Teddy bears can also be purchased to allow the program to remain self-funded. You can find more information about this program .
