Southern Illinois woman pleads guilty in connection to children left in vehicle incident

FAIRFIELD, Ill. (WSIL) -- A 37-year-old woman pleaded guilty to a charge on Thursday in connection to an incident where police reported a 1-year-old died and a 2-year-old was severely injured.

According to a court clerk and online court records, on December 12, Aydreian Hooper of Fairfield pleaded guilty to a child endangerment charge. Records also stated the other remaining counts are to be dismissed.

Hooper was also reported to be released with a GPS electronic monitoring device and a sentence hearing was scheduled for February 27, 2025 at 9 a.m.

Illinois State Police (ISP) earlier stated they were contacted by the Fairfield Police Department on the evening of July 14, 2024, for a death investigation in Fairfield.

ISP stated both of the children were left in a vehicle for multiple hours. The Child Death Investigative Task Force was then activated for this investigation.

Then 36-year-old Aydreian Hooper was arrested. She originally faced charges of Involuntary Manslaughter, Endangering the Life of a Child - Death, Reckless Conduct and Endangering the Life of a Child.
