JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Two people were taken to jail and face charges of child pornography in two separate investigations.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported, Ryan L. Taylor, 49 of Mt. Vernon, was arrested on April 20 in relation to an investigation which was started in January of 2024.
The sheriff's office received multiple tips with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force which led to search warrants for Taylor's home, cyber accounts and electronic devices.
Taylor was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he faces child pornography charges. Taylor is scheduled for a detention hearing on April 23 at 2 p.m.
Anthony H. Powell, 28 of Opdyke, Illinois, was arrested two days later on April 22. This is in relation to an investigation which started on April 2.
After receiving tips through the ICAC Task Force, warrants were served for Powell's home, cyber accounts and electronic devices.
Powell was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail and faces a charge of production of child pornography.
