WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- A man was taken to jail and accused of giving false names to law enforcement for the past 16 months while on the run.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies saw a U-Haul truck going north on Route 166 near Boundary Road on Wednesday, March 27. The U-Haul was also reportedly pulling a trailer without a vehicle registration.

A deputy pulled over the vehicle and started speaking with the people inside the U-Haul. The sheriff’s office stated the people then gave a false name and stated they were from California.

Deputies later found the passenger was identified as Bryan J. Blankenship who is reported to have a patrol violation warrant with the Illinois Department of Corrections which was issued on December 28, 2022, authorities stated.

The sheriff’s office said Blankenship has been giving law enforcement a fake name to law enforcement since the warrant was issued to avoid being captured.

Blankenship faces charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Obstructing Identification.

Blankenship was then taken to the Williamson County Jail.
