EF-2 tornado damages roughly 200 homes in Delta

DELTA, Mo. (WSIL) � Crews surveyed the path of a storm through Delta, coming to the conclusion it was an EF-2 tornado.

The National Weather Service said preliminary findings dictate the strength of an EF-2 tornado, which hit on the evening of April 2.

Weather officials stated the peak winds were at 125 mph, with a width maximum of 600 yards.

The tornado was tracked 14.8 miles long, starting about two miles east northeast of Advance, then traveling northeast through Delta and ending south of Dutcttown.

The National Weather Service says this tornado damaged roughly 200 structures on its path and caused one death and no injuries.

At the time of the storm, nearby residents took shelter at the Delta Community Center.
