SPRINGFIELD (WSIL) -- A new bill will let Illinois Department of Children and Family Service workers be better equipped to defend themselves.
The legislation will allow DCFS investigators to carry pepper spray when visiting a home.
This comes after the murder of two women who were conducting home visits.
Investigators will have to go through a training course with Illinois State Police on the proper use of a defensive spray.
The bill now heads to Governor JB Pritzker's desk.
