MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- The Humane Society of Southern Illinois has scheduled an upcoming open house adoption event to help find forever homes for their remaining 12 dogs.
The Humane Society of Southern Illinois announced in late July they will shut their doors after nearly 70 years of service.
Since this announcement, they have transferred dozens of animals from their shelter to other shelters, including to Quincy in mid-August and to PAWS Chicago in early September.
The open house event coming up on October 6, is another effort to help find a loving home for the remaining 12 dogs.
The open house event will take place on Sunday, October 6, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at 95 Humane Road in Murphysboro.
