ULLIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- Three earthquakes hit in the region recently, with one reported as felt from more than a thousand miles away, according to the USGS.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 2.0 earthquake hitting near the Ullin, Illinois area on October 31 at around 3:40 p.m. This particular earthquake hit nearly two miles northeast of Ullin with a depth of roughly 8 miles.
The USGS also had five reports from people who responded they felt the quake. Two people who said they felt it were in Olmstead. Other responses were from New Athens, Illinois, Mascoutah, Illinois and Merom, Indiana which was nearly 150 miles from where the quake occurred at.
An earthquake reported by the USGS on the night of November 2, at 10:44 p.m., was a 3.7 tremor, roughly two miles east of Steele in southeast Missouri. This quake was measured at roughly six miles deep.
The USGS also had 624 reports from people who responded they felt the quake. People who said they felt it were from as far away as Newmarket, New Hampshire, which is more than 1,100 miles from where the quake occurred at.
Another earthquake reported by the USGS, was a 2.1 quake on November 2, at 10:57 p.m., near the same spot as the aforementioned 3.7 quake, roughly two miles east of Steele in southeast Missouri. This 2.1 particular quake was reported with a depth of 5 miles deep.
The USGS also had 12 reports from people who responded they felt the quake. People who said they felt it were from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Hayti, Missouri, Metropolis, Illinois, Caruthersville, Missouri, Burlison, Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee, Lexington, Tennessee, Waynesboro, Tennessee and Mount Ida, Arkansas which was roughly 238 miles from where the quake occurred at.
