CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- In honor of American Heart Month a local hospital is letting people know how they can keep their heart healthy.
SIH Prairie Heart Institute in Carbondale is helping one of its patients, Nelly Sanchez. She had Aortic Valve Stenosis and she recently had open heart surgery to replace the aortic valve. She discussed with us what she wants people to know about her experience.
"People should find a physician they can trust, they should finds someone they are comfortable with and go ahead a proceed," said Sanchez, with the assistance of a translator.
