Motorcycle driver seriously injured in crash after trying to avoid animal

SIKESTON, Mo. -- A 43-year-old was flown to the hospital after trying to avoid an animal in the roadway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) said it happened in Dunklin County along MO 53 about three miles south of Campbell at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

MSHP said Robert Edwards was driving a 2001 Harley Davidson north on MO 53 when he attempted to avoid an animal, ran off the road and overturned.

Edwards was flown to St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau with serious injuries.
