Organizations collecting toys for area children in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- The Marine Corps Reserve, along with other volunteers, are collecting toys and donations for area kids in Cape Girardeau this week.

Volunteers are staging at the entrances of Schnucks in Cape Girardeau where they have tables set up and large boxes for donated toys.

This effort is to collect gifts through Toys For Tots for children in the southeast Missouri area.

They will be at Schnucks all day on Thursday through 8 p.m.

Volunteers partnering with the toy drive include Schnucks, River Radio, ESPN Southeast Missouri and Marine Corps League Cpl. Mason Yarborough.

Toys For Tots have recently received other donations as well, including numerous financial donations from various local organizations, along with 41 bikes from the Jackson Moose Lodge.
