New 4-day rainfall record set for 58-county region

PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- A new all-time highest 4-day rainfall record was set after the historic rainfall in early April.

The National Weather Service in Paducah recorded the rainfall in many places across the their 58-county region, with a multiple locations reaching more than a foot of rain.

The least amount of rain across the region in the recent four-day period from April 2 - 6, was measured in Perry County, Missouri at 5.35 inches.

The new record-breaking total for the 58-county area for a four-day period is 15.59 inches set at Medsonet in Marshall County, Kentucky. This is roughly 4 miles north of Benton, Kentucky. Weather officials said the 15.59 inches of rain is the all-time highest 4-day total of rainfall for any location in their 58-county region.

The old record was set on August 13-16, 2016, at Williamsville, Missouri, where they received 15.53 inches.
