ELDORADO (WSIL) -- Two Saline County women have dedicated their lives to taking care of senior citizens at a long-term care facility.
Rhonda Grisham and Rebecca O'Brien have worked at Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare for over 40-years. The pair are sisters, and Rhonda, a CNA, started in 1977 at 18-years-old. Rebecca, also a CNA, joined the team a year later at the young age of 17. The ladies said getting to know the residents and their families has been the most rewarding part of the job.
"It's been a long time, and it's very nice to be recognized for that. For our years of service. I don't consider ourselves any different from all the other great people that work here and all the other facilities," said Rebecca.
Taking care of others has been a family passion that started with their mother and another sister, who also worked at the same facility.
"I like the job that we do. I like taking care of the residents and being there for them," said Rhonda.
This year has been the most challenging due to the pandemic, but facility Administrator Lori Prichard said anyone who has worked in this field as long as their family has, deserves some recognition for their service.
"They are very dedicated to their jobs. They take their residents and treat them as a priority in whatever situation, whether the pandemic or not, and they take pride in their work," added Lori.
Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare is a 99-bed facility and currently serves about 65 residents. She said the sisters are enjoyable, dependable, and treat the residents like family.
Prichard added that since the ladies are from Eldorado, everybody in town knows they don't have to worry about their loved ones because they in good hands.
