...Cold air funnels will be possible...

Cold air funnels are expected today. These cold air funnels are
developing underneath a few showers that are moving across the
area. Underneath these showers...spinning columns of air that look
like tornadoes may continue to develop. These funnels usually are
very brief and rarely touch the ground. If these funnels do touch
down...they most likely will not cause damage to life or
property.

Cold air funnels are due to very cool air aloft...warm moist air
near the ground...and are usually in association with a strong
area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Due to
little or no wind shear...they are usually weak and very brief.

SEMO District Fair

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (WSIL) -- Since 1855 the SEMO District Fair has brought together families from all over our area. This year marks the 169th year of the “Old Cape Fair,â€� and organizers are excited about what they have to offer.Ìý

The fair takes place September 7th through September 14th. Here's a schedule of what's happening opening weekend.Ìý

September 7th: 

ANNUAL FAIR PARADE�

  • 9:30 am â€� Parade runs from Capaha Park to the Fairgrounds
  • Pre-entry required by September 4 at the Fair Office

ACTIVITES TENT SCHEDULE

  • 12:00 pm â€� 7:00 pm â€� FREE caricature drawings by Share Faerber
  • SEMO District Fair Pageant
    • 2:00 pm â€� 3:00 pm â€� SEMO District Fair Queen Rehearsals
    • 3:00 pm â€� 5:30 pm â€� SEMO District Fair Queen Pageant
  • 6:30 pm â€� 9:00 pm â€� FREE Bingo

GRANDSTAND EVENTS

  • 6:00 pm â€� Auto Tire & Parts NAPA Dual Demolition Derby

COMPETITIONS AND CONTESTS�

  • 8:00 am â€� 11:00 am: All non-livestock open class entries for competition and display inside the Arena Building and 4H Exhibit Hall will be accepted.ÌýENTRIES MUST BE IN BY 11:00 am.
  • 11:00 am: Cornhole/Bags Tournament by SEMO Baggers â€� singles event â€� American Legion Pavillion
  • 1:00 pm: Cornhole/Bags Tournament by SEMO Baggers â€� doubles event â€� American Legion Pavillion

ARENA BUILDING COMPETITION JUDGING�

  • 1:30 pm â€� All classes of entries inside the Arena Building judging to include Fine Arts, Photography, Floriculture, Horticulture, Family & Consumer Science and FFA Horticulture.

LIVESTOCK COMPETITIONS AND JUDGING

  • 1:00 pm: 4H poultry, rabbits, guinea pigs â€� Poultry Tent
  • 4:30 pm: Senior draft horse show and mule hitch challenge â€� Ball field #7

September 8th:
