Forty-Five Southern Illinois students receive scholarships from Harley-Davidson

MARION, Ill. -- Forty-five high-school students received scholarships from Black Diamond Harley-Davidson and community colleges in the area. 

2024 is the 15th year Harley-Davidson has partnered with local colleges to award students. In total, $45,000 of financial aid was given out this year. 

High school administration and faculty across the region nominated students for the award. Each scholarship covered $1,000 and was funded by Co-Owners of Black Diamond Rodney Cabaness and Shad Zimbro and the four community colleges in the region.

The following students received scholarships to attend John A. Logan College:

  • Carbondale High School: Skylar Moore
  • Carterville High School: Taylor Nolan
  • Crab Orchard High School: Aiden Peek
  • DuQuoin High School: Kayla Thomas
  • Elverado High School: Addison Will
  • Herrin High School: Janiya HarrisonJohnston City High School: Max Price
  • Marion High School: Carly Pinkston
  • Murphysboro High School: Jasmin Uribe
  • Trico High School: Tessa Nehrt
  • West Frankfort High School: Hannah Mullins
  • Project Echo High School: Jemma Gamble

The students listed below received scholarships to attend Rend Lake College:

  • Benton High School: Jace Melvin
  • Christopher High School: Briar Rowland
  • Hamilton County High School: Riley Jones
  • Mt. Vernon High School: Natalie Warren
  • Pinckneyville High School: Briana Roberts
  • Sesser-Valier High School: Wyatt Loucks
  • Thompsonville High School: Olivia Hebbeler
  • Waltonville High School: Kaylee Pyszka
  • Wayne City High School: Cody Nguyen
  • Webber Township High School: Myranda Stoeber
  • Woodlawn High School: Emery Sanders
  • Zeigler-Royalton High School: Melissa Walter

Shawnee Community College scholarships were issued to:

  • Anna-Jonesboro High School: Alayna Menees
  • Cairo High School: Chassidy Johnson
  • Century High School: Hallie Essex
  • Cobden High School: Jada Furlow
  • Dongola High School: Payton Hilliard
  • Egyptian High School: Matthew Masters
  • Goreville High School: Levi Damon
  • Joppa High School: Jacob Smith
  • Massac County High School: Brian Myrick
  • Meridian High School: Sara Williams
  • Shawnee High School: Ryan Libbert
  • Vienna High School: Matthew O’Neal

Finally, students received scholarships to Southeastern Illinois College. They are listed below:

  • Carmi-White County High School: Alexis Miller
  • Carrier Mills Stonefort High School: Lane Boaz
  • Eldorado High School: Jack Bruce
  • Galatia High School: Derrick Fitzpatrick
  • Gallatin County High School: Teegan Wright
  • Hardin County High School: Emery Stricklin
  • Harrisburg High School: Allison Moyer
  • NCOE High School: Claira Powell
  • Pope County High School: Abigaile Bowman

A luncheon is scheduled for Saturday at TJ's Diamond Club at Mtn Dew Park for the scholarship presentations.
