HERRIN, Ill. -- Stemm's Caf茅 & Coffee Shoppe in Herrin announced its upcoming closure on Friday morning.聽
The restaurant's owners, Jason and Trish, took to 聽to tell the community the sad news.聽
"It is most definitely not a decision that we came upon lightly," wrote Stemm's. "It is a decision that we feel is best for our family at this time."聽
The post goes on to cite increasing prices of labor and food as the main reason for the closure. The owners' health issues and the landlord's decision to not renew the building's lease also contributed to the decision.聽
"To each and every one of you who has walked through our doors, shared a meal, or simply shared a smile, we extend our deepest gratitude," said the post. "You have been the heartbeat of this establishment, and we will forever cherish the memories we have created together."
Jason and Trish plan to keep the caf茅 open until June 30. The pair said if Jason finds a new job before that date, though, the closure could come early.聽
