Missouri man taken into custody by Cape Girardeau Police for suspected burglary

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Police arrested a man at a traffic stop on Thursday who they say was a suspect in two recent burglary investigations. 

Police stopped the car of Nathan Wright, 44, of Farmington, MO, on Thursday at 10:20 p.m. near Maria Louise and Kiwanis Dr. 

According to information from the Cape Girardeau Police, Wright faced charges for two recent incidents:

  • July 19, 2024, 11:30 p.m. -- Wright supposedly broken into a business in the 300 block of S. Spanish and took about $290. 
  • July 29, 2024, 4:47 a.m. -- Wright allegedly broke into the same business and took another $80. 

Police say they took Wright into custody on Thursday night. Wright was reportedly charged through the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office with the following:

  • Receiving Stolen Property, Class D Felony
  • Burglary in the Second Degree, Class D Felony
  • Misdemeanor of Stealing, Class A Misdemeanor

Cape Police say Wright is held on a $20,000 cash only bond.
