NEW MADRID COUNTY, Mo. -- Officials reportedly interrupted the alleged sale of a stolen bike and seized dozens of grams of illegal drugs in the process.Â
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department, deputies received word of the stolen dirt bike's location on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Investigators say they reported to the scene on County Road 803 during the assumed selling of the bike.Â
Deputies teamed up with the New Madrid Police Department, the Matthews Police Department and the SEMO Drug Task Force for the investigation.Â
Authorities report they arrived at the suspected scene to find people standing outside with a bike. Deputies say they assumed, and later confirmed, this was indeed a bike missing from Cape Girardeau County. A handgun was also noted with an object described as a homemade suppressor and a 3-D printed frame.Â
At this time, investigators say they took the suspects for further investigation.Â
Deputies say the investigation obtained two search warrants that yielded about 61 grams of meth, firearms, drug paraphernalia, packaging supplies and a 3-D printer officials say was used for manufacturing illegal firearms.Â
According to the sheriff's office, authorities arrested the following two suspects on the charges listed:
- Tatyana Wheatley, 31, of Dexter -- bond set at $50,000 cashÂ
- Distribution of Controlled Substances
- Felony Stealing
- David Wilburn, 34, of Matthews -- bond set at $50,000 cash
- Distribution of Controlled Substances
- Unlawful Possession of Illegal Firearm
- Five counts of Unlawful Use of a Firearm
Authorities expect more arrests to come as the investigation remains ongoing.Â
