Paducah woman arrested for monthslong child assault case

McCracken County, Ky. -- Officials arrested a woman in an ongoing investigation into the assault of a child. 

Jessica Banton, 35 of Paducah, was taken into custody during the week of June 17. 

The investigation began in January. The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said they received word from an out-of-state children's hospital that a three-year-old girl was at their facility with fractured bones and other injuries, in which was believed to be from abuse.

Deputies brought Banton to the McCracken County Regional Jail. Authorities said she faces the following charges:

  • Assault, 1st Degree
  • Criminal Abuse, 1st Degree (Victim under 12)

Banton is held with a $100,000 cash bond.
