POPE COUNTY, Ill. -- Pope County Sheriff Jerry Suits has confirmed the identity of the body found Thursday afternoon.

Jerry Harris, the man who went missing Monday, was found dead on Thursday. This news comes one day after the body's discovery and the cancellation of Harris' missing person alert.

Harris' body was discovered by two volunteers on four-wheelers a mile and a half from Harris' home around noon. Sheriff Suits arrived on the scene shortly after. Suits completed the investigation and discovered no foul play.

Suits confirmed Harris' family was notified of the situation prior to alerting the media.

The investigation has been closed.Â
