
WSIL(Carterville, Ill.)-- This morning, most of us are waking up to temperatures in the 60s and 70s with mostly sunny skies.
Today, we are going to see very hot temperatures. As early as 10 AM, we could see temperatures in the mid to upper 80s with heat index in the mid 90s. Skies will be mostly sunny.
Highs this afternoon will be in the mid 90s, likely around 94 for southern Illinois, and around 96 further west. Peak heat index values this afternoon should be between 97-99 degrees.
Skies will continue to be mostly sunny this afternoon. We will see partly cloudy skies overnight, and partly cloudy skies are expected most of the day tomorrow.
Morning lows tomorrow will be in mid 70s, and highs tomorrow will be in the upper 90s and possibly the low 100s. The best likelihood of triple digit temperatures will be in our western counties.
For these hot temperatures, there is a heat advisory until 8:00PM tomorrow for heat index values that could get over 105 degrees.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible tomorrow afternoon with the heat of the day, but the better chance for storms will arrive early Wednesday morning.
