Just last week, FEMA denied Illinois� request for federal assistance for individuals and businesses in the more than 20 counties affected by flooding this past Spring, now flood victims like those in East Cape Girardeau are stuck in a waiting game.

ALEXANDER COUNTY (WSIL) � Leaders in East Cape Girardeau are trying to find ways to make flood recovery easier while residents in McClure try their best to recover on their own.

Officials in East Cape Girardeau believe Alexander County has racked up millions of dollars in flood damage following assessments by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU (WSIL) � The impacts of flooding are still being felt in our area.  

MCCLURE (WSIL) � After months of dealing with floodwaters surrounding businesses and homes, the water had receded in McClure, but now it’s time for the clean up. 

EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU (WSIL) � For more than a month, thousands of drivers headed to and from Cape Girardeau had to significantly alter their plans due to flood waters. That ended Friday when road crews opened Route 3 and Route 146 on the way to the Cape bridge.

MCCLURE (WSIL) � First responders in Alexander County are battling more than just flames when they respond to calls. 

EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU, Ill. (WSIL) � Portion of Route 146 in East Cape reopens.
