CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Lots of purple could be found inside Itchy Jones Stadium on Monday night for the IHSA Class 2A Baseball Super Sectional.
Harrisburg and Freeburg squared off for the right to move on to the semifinals. This one didn't start until 8:30 PM because the Class 1A Super Sectional game finished late.
The Bulldogs batted first and came out swinging. Javie Beal and Colby Morse led the game off with back to back single. Noah Boon would step up to the plate with bases loaded. Boon put it in play, and the fielders choice scored Beal to make it 1-0 Harrisburg.
Ben Brombaugh would extend Harrisburg's lead in the first inning when he lines a letter high pitch to right right field scorning Morse, making it 2-0 Bulldogs.
The merry-go round continued as the Bulldogs took good at bats. Riley King puts a barrel on the ball to give Harrisburg and early 5-0 lead in the first. Harrisburg would bat around in the first inning, scoring 6 runs on 6 hits, giving the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead.
Freeburg would have a 9 run 4th inning and eliminate Harrisburg 15-8.
