CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Wednesday the IHSA voted to play basketball this winter session…practices starting November 16th and games November 30th but we may need to pump the brakes. Thursday Governor Pritzker had a response.
"Some of these sports, we're not shutting them down, we've asked them to be moved to the spring - some later in the spring," Governor Pritzker said. "And, again, the fact that the IHSA has a different opinion - I mean, I've known that for some time about different areas of sports. You know, I think it's going to be incumbent on the schools to make decisions for themselves."
WSIL Sports reached out to the IHSA and the IHSA has not received any additional outreach from the Governors office or IDPH since Tuesday, and
because of that they do not have a comment at this time.
It appears the IHSA will not be making changes for the time being.
