Harrisburg & Marion Baseball remain undefeated with wins; Plus Local scores

MARION/MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) -- Marion baseball was able to hold off Belleville-Althoff 2-1 on Thursday behind strong pitching from Karsten Stotlar. The lefty went the distance and got help from his defense to preserve the win. A 6-3 inning ending double play in the sixth helped Marion escape trouble and Stotlar induced two ground ball outs in the 7th inning to get the win. Wildcats are now 7-0 on the season.

Harrisburg continued their winning ways with a convincing 18-4 victory over Murphysboro. Javie Beal belted a 2-run homerun, his 6th of the season, tying him with Noah Boon for the team lead. Harrisburg is now 14-0 on the season.

Baseball:

Massac County 3, Benton 0. Brody Smallman gets the complete game shutout and Logan Korte hit a solo HR. Patriots are now 7-5, 2-1 SIRR.

Du Quoin 6, Anna-Jonesboro 1

Elverado 16, Joppa-MG 0 (4 Innings). Sam Endres and Joseph Overton combine for a no hitter.

Nashville 10, Pinckneyville 2. Panthers fall to 5-5 overall, 2-2 in SIRR.

Softball:

Murphysboro 8, Harrisburg 1. Red Devils won their 4th straight game. Shelby Cook hit her 14th career homerun, tying her for first all time in Murphysboro career homeruns. Taby Young and Karlye Happold also homered in the win.

Elverado 20, Joppa 0 (4 Innings). Emma Yates, Macy Whitaker, and Chloe Barnes combine for a no hitter.
