ST. LOUIS, MO. (WSIL) - The face of the Franchise is returning to the St. Louis Battlehawks.
QB A.J. McCarron returns to Battlehawks
After guiding the team to a 7-3 finish a season ago, Quarterback A.J. McCarron became a backup for the Cincinnati Bengals for six games. Now, he's back in Mound City and will try to lead the Battlehawks to an XFL Championship this season.Â
"The city of Saint Louis was the only city and team I wanted to come back and play for," said McCarron. "Of course, it helps when AB is your head coach and Bruce is your OC."
McCarron was the guy in 2023 for St. Louis. He became an instant fan favorite when he led the League in complete percentage and was second in the League in both completions and passing yards.Â
He also won three BCS National Championships at Alabama. The team is fired up to have him back.Â
McCarron threw 24 touchdowns, an XFL record. He asked for his release from the Bengals to return to the Battlehawks where he now again becomes QB1.
The Battlehawks open the year on the road against the Michigan Panthers on March 30th. The first home game in St. Louis is set for Saturday, April 6 against Arlington. It will be broadcast on WSIL.Â
