Another chilly start, followed by a warm afternoon Friday

Bus Stop

CARTERVILLE Ill. (WSIL) -- Overnight temperatures will be a smidge warmer than recent nights, but still cold. Lows will drop back into the mid 30s Friday morning. The cold temperatures, calm winds and clear skies will allow for another night of patchy frost. Cover or protect any vegetation you don't want damaged.

It'll be another cold start to the day, especially for kids at the bus stop. Send them out in layers because while they may need the jacket in the morning, they won't by the afternoon. High temperatures will climb back up near 70 degrees, accompanied by more sunshine.

The warming trend and sunshine will continue into the weekend. Highs will rise into the mid 70s by Sunday. It will be a great weekend for outdoor fall festivities.
