Carterville Ill. (WSIL) -- Today starts our unsettled weather pattern with a trough of low pressure nearing. This will spark isolated to scattered storms across the area with the best coverage coming towards the evening. We do have a level 1 risk for severe storms but that should mainly just be for some isolated damaging wind gusts. Temperatures today should stay in the 80s with increased cloud cover across the area and the threat for rain.Â

Overnight Beryl gets closer and so that along with it combining with our trough will allow rain to overspread out region by the morning commute. Some of this rain will be heavy at times and our winds will be a bit gusty around 20-30 mph. The rain will be on and off but generally it'll be a very wet day across the area. Another 2-4 inches is expected across most of our area with locally higher amounts. We will have to watch the flood threat especially along the Mississippi as they have already been dealing with flooding issues before this.Â
As the low approaches closer, shear will increase and if we are able to get unstable enough we could see a few isolated tornadoes across our region. Usually, tornadoes with tropical systems remain fairly weak but regardless we still have to look our for them! After Tuesday evening we start to dry out slowly and by Wednesday afternoon I expect most of us to see a good amount of sunshineÂ
