...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values 100 to 107 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

THOMPSONVILLE (WSIL) -- We continue highlighting young people in our region who are doing amazing things or just being awesome.

This week we meet a young who has faced some challenges and has found a way to overcome them.

Meet Garrett He's a junior at Thompsonville High School. He has traumatic brain injury, but has worked hard to close the academic gap between him and his 11th grade peers.

Garrett,has developed ways to tackle and go around any obstacles that are challenging for him and is proud of his academic achievements.

When not studying. Garrett tends to his chickens and sells eggs to his established customers.

After High School, Garrett wants to invent assisted technology to help others with their disabilities.
